Reading Bluewater Walkabout by Tina Dreffin was an enriching experience. Tina’s love of travel, instilled in her childhood through her family's many migrations, is evident. Marrying Peter, who shared her passion for travel and the sea, set the stage for their adventurous life together. Their journey to Africa, driven by anticipation and tenacity, was a captivating tale of exploration and self-discovery.

Tina and Peter's life together was inspiring, making me reflect on the meaning of living fully and purposefully. Their story is filled with lessons and wisdom that reignited my faith in destiny, love, and the inherent goodness of people. The book is a testament to finding happiness through courage and choosing one’s path, regardless of societal norms.

Tina's narrative style is both humorous and heartfelt, capturing the reader’s attention from the beginning. Her resilience in the face of adversity and her kindness towards her family were particularly touching. I also admired how she managed to have her son’s friends aboard during their journey, adding warmth to the story.

One of the most impactful parts of the book was Tina’s candid discussion on female sexual assaults. Her openness about her own experiences and the societal stigma surrounding rape victims was both shocking and essential, contributing to awareness and dialogue around this critical issue. Her courage to address such a sensitive topic added a profound depth to the memoir.

The memoir is filled with rich, poetic descriptions of adventures and places, enhanced by quotes, photos, and maps. The humor-laced narrative, combined with vivid storytelling, made the book an emotional and thrilling read. Despite the flashbacks, the storyline was easy to follow and added to the authenticity of her family's journey.

Bluewater Walkabout it's exceptionally well edited, with one error, making the reading experience smooth and enjoyable. I found no reason to dislike this book. I recommend this book to travel enthusiasts and parents. The book showcases the beauty of Africa, its wildlife, and picturesque cities, while also highlighting the resilience and spirit of a family living life to the fullest. It earns a solid rating of 5 out of 5 stars read that will inspire and captivate anyone who dreams of adventure.
