The first man Adam was created by God and put in a garden. He was living in the garden and enjoying everyday life. Right inside the garden there are varieties of animals relating with one another with the lion as a dangerous specie. In addition, there are rivers in the garden notably the one which is called the “Euphrates river. Also, he was enjoying a robust relationship with God as they usually interact in the evening. Besides all these the man Adam was saddled with the responsibility of naming the creatures which he did. However, the man is told not to eat of a particular tree in the garden.
God knew his need for a companion and from His rib God created Eve and brought her to Adam not to be his helpmate. The woman Eve was warned not to touch the fruit the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil but the serpent deceived her which lead to her touching and eventually eating it with her husband the result is that their eyes were open and they realize they were naked and attempted to cover their nakedness with served fig leaves. The Lord was displease with Adam and Eve and punished them, the serpent was also punished as he will henceforth walk upon his belly.
Adam and Eve gave birth to Cain and Abel. It happens as the boys grew up they both but individually brought sacrifice unto God. God accepted Abel’s sacrifice while that of Cain was rejected, which eventually led to Cain killing his brother thus, committing the first murder. It should be noted that sin came into the world through Adam and Eve disobedience however, sin was first mention in chapter 4 of Genesis where the story of Cain and Abel was told. Sin is a powerful adversary crouching at the door and it is not only in the context of disobedience but also conduct that are undesirable. The instruction given by God in chapter (1) that Adam should not touch of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil was added by Adam. In that he told Eve not to touch the tree. Adam did so as to protect his wife from getting close to the tree. However, Eve was deceived by the serpent and her desire to be like God as deceived made her to eat the forbidden fruit. God had planted the forbidden tree because he wants Adam to live by faith. Our relationship with God must be by faith, not huge faith but faith like a mustard seed.
We are free indeed because Jesus took our place in judgment and died our death on the cross. the sacrifice Jesus was such a great sacrifice that at a point he wanted it averted however, he bows to the fathers will, paying that God’s will be done. God has a definite plan for each and every one of us to be receive by faith like he did Abram and Noah. His plan for us is much more than our salvation. God has a purpose for each and every one of us his children who by faith accept him as our Lord and savior. He (God) uses 3 avenues to assist us in our work with him these are; (1) Bible (2) His voice and (3) His peace with these three He helps us in our work with him and in our spiritual battles. It must be noted that as children of God through faith in Jesus we will encounter battles but these battles are not physical but spiritual and it is against principalities and power’s.
When we give ourselves fully to God we will be living in His rest and we need faith as a requirement for entering God’s rest. God has called us to follow Him and we can only follow Him when we (1) deny ourself (2) take up your cross (3) follow Him. We are called to follow God the journey starts with faith and ends with faith.
I like the book because is a Christian literature; It is a book that bring understanding of God’s word and his ways. Secondly, the use of scriptures and testimonies is very encouraging and adds colour to the book. Furthermore, the study questions at the end of every chapter is remarkable.
I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because it is written in a simple language most people can read and understand, points are backed by scriptures and it has testimonies to aid understanding.
The book will appeal must to Christians and clergy men who will want to know more about sin and how-to deal with it and live a life of freedom in Christ Jesus.
Additionally, although I have not checked all the scriptures the scripture of Rev.13:9 is not correct the correct thing is Rev.13:8 this error is in chapter 9 of the book under the subtopic/caption God’s rest for us who believe.
