The issue of man's proclivity to do wrong and how to correct it has been a major concern to man. This was identified by Williams. E. Combs which spurred him up to do a thorough analysis of the fall of Adam as recorded in the Bible, documented in his book "who told you that you are naked" to give an understanding on how the fall has led to this issues and how mankind can be saved from them
Starting the book with a story featuring Adam, eve his wife , the serpent, God and Adams pet named lively, he actually helps the reader to be able to imagine what happened in the beginning a picture the reader might not have simply by reading the text from the Bible. Present in the story were scenes like the acquiring of a pet lamb adam named lively after he had found it entangled and had compassion on it portraying an innocent Adam, the walk Adam had with God which painted a picture of friendship and love between the man and his God, the dwelling together of the couples in nakedness and innocence in the lovely place God provided for them, all these changes when the couples ate the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil which God commanded they shouldn't eat making them to hide from themselves and from God. The innocence they both possessed and their ability to dwell together without any feeling of nakedness all went.
The newly acquired knowledge of good and
Evil by the couples that caused the feeling of nakedness and shame between them and their God, turned out to be a faculty of reasoning that gave them the wrong perception of their own nakedness, and the idea that people will judge them by their own perceived shortcomings because they feel the people around them possess qualities better than theirs. This feeling entraps them and triggers wrong actions that the man takes in response to these feelings for example the couples covering their bodies from each other because of their feelings of nakedness. This shows that the nakedness of man isn't important but the persons perception of the nakedness which means the flaw they think they have. The nature has since then been transferred from Adam to all men and has made men subject to a wrong course of action which some people call sin. Which follows that man needs someone to save him from this entrapment which the Bible reveals to the world as jesus
The book was actually inspirational and educational. I loved the way the author presented his points with biblical references, was not in anyway biased with his inferences but helps the reader to see the truth which he is convicted of in a gentle manner. I could relate with the feelings of nakedness he described and I am sure that people in the world at large can relate with this feeling of course it doesn't have to be nakedness according to the literal meaning.
In conclusion I was really blessed by the book it enlightened me on the root cause of the issues of man's propensity to do wrong and the way I can come out of it which is my faith in Jesus. The book was well organised and I didn't come across any typo only that the introduction didnot really introduce me to the theme not withstanding I give it a 4 out of 4 stars. I will love to recommend this books for Christians and every person seeking for the truth with an open heart
