The Misogi Method by Jody B. Miller

“The Misogi Method” by Jody B Miller introduces the Japanese Shinto ritual of purification. The ritual of washing the body entirely to get rid of impurities and negative energy has a greater connotation. It enables us to get adjusted to discomfort and step out of our comfort zone will permit a better scope in our lives. It is a modern-day variation of Ice challenge and cryotherapy. This helps to boost immunity as well as mental prowess.
Pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones spurs our personal growth. Rituals like Misogi have evolved in modern times but the core object of practising such rituals remains the same, connecting with something greater than ordinary existence. Non-physical Misogi is same way beneficial for personal growth.
The book explores different kinds of Misogi and their benefits in our lives. The author shares personal experiences of curiosity and childhood games to reinforce the importance of playing I'm developing life skills like leadership and entrepreneurship.

The author has talked about different rituals and their values in our lives irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. I am astonished at the wide arena of her knowledge regarding other cultures and religious worshippings. Taking reference from Hindu, and Muslim traditions and rituals, she emphasises the importance of rituals in individual as well as community life. She draws a clear distinction between tradition and ritual.
The book will help one to be involved in self-reflection and self-awareness through personality tests like the ‘Enneagram’. After reading this book one will gain clarity, and freedom and prepare oneself for better understanding.

If you want to accept your originality through challenges and self-acceptance, if you want to reach beyond your comfort zone and do something extraordinary, then pick up the book. The author has used different terms and techniques like unplugging, relaxation, spiritual retreats, observation, and reflection for personal development.
This book will teach you how to build a support system and maintain positive mindsets.
There is nothing I dislike about this book. It is a well-structured book with exciting references. Allusion from songs, novels and poems encourages continuous learning. Again, the author mentioned other positive personalities to boost her theory. Various websites and articles listed in this book help in further reading. The editing is highly professional. Therefore, I don't hesitate to rate the book 5 out of 5
The concept of Misogi might be too extreme or intimidating for some people. And the book's effectiveness depends heavily on the reader's willingness. Even if it may not appeal to everyone, those who are seeking unconventional self-help methods can find valuable insights on the pages of this book. So, read the book, identify your Misogi and work on it.
