“Play Golf Better Faster” by Kalliope Barlis is a golf instruction book that is true to its name, offering readers an effective and accelerated path to improvement on the golf course. Barlis guides readers into the world of golfing and provides valuable insights that help golfers of all levels enhance their skills and enjoy the game.

The author emphasizes the mental aspect of golf as she delves into the psychology of the game, addressing common mental barriers that can hinder a player's performance. Exercises are given at the end of the majority of the chapters, focusing on both the mind and body. This mental approach is complemented by her visualization sessions, which help players to visualize success and execute shots more effectively.

She guides the reader through the proper path of practice and provides drills that target specific aspects of the game. Barlis beautifully explains everything in detail through drawings and illustrations, which are easy to understand even for a beginner. She also explains the ‘wheel of golf,’ which I personally liked. The combination of practical drills and mental strategies sets this book apart, making it a valuable resource for golfers aiming to refine both their physical and mental approach to the game.

Apart from all the good aspects, the book has very concise explanations and lacks detail on certain topics. This might hinder some readers who would prefer an in-depth explanation. But then again, as the name suggests, it’s a quick read so that golfers can immediately begin applying the techniques and strategies to their game and reap the benefits better and faster!

In conclusion, it’s a concise, insightful, and actionable guide for golfers. Barlis shares her experiences and helps the reader through the mental, visual, practical, and emotional aspects linked to the game of golf. Hence, I would like to give it 4 out of 5 stars. Whether you are a novice or an experienced golfer, the book provides strategies to enhance your golf skills and is a good read.
