Health is our first wealth. If a person is unhealthy, he can never achieve what he dreams. Most of his opportunities are lost due to his health. Health doesn't mean only to be physically fit, it also implies to the mental and emotional state of our body.
Dr. Morton E. Travel, a retired physician specialist in internal medicine an cardiovascular diseases, gives a detailed account of ways and means to keep ourselves healthy through his book Health Tips, Myths and Tricks. This book not only gives us great health tips but it also discusses the various myths that people believe to be true regarding their health.
the author starts by giving us the information of the U.S. health status. The use of BMI is also discussed with the emerging trend of having foods containing high trans-fat and high calorific value with less nutritive elements. The main health issues listed out here include obesity, trans-fat consumption, increased intake of coffee, dangers associated with sodium and so on.
The book is very informative. There are few foods which we consider to be healthy but are, in reality, harmful to our health. These include whole grain foods, high iodine and sodium foods, processed foods, foods prepared with ajinomoto, carbonated soft drinks, artificially sweetened foods, etc. We all know and understand that consumption of anything in excess amount is injurious as well as harmful to our health. But, we ignore the common fact that staying healthy is the most important thing.
The author tries to explain the various ways in which we can stay healthy and fit. It is important to follow a diet plan to have a balanced ration. Balanced diet helps us in having the required nutrition in proper amount. The breakfast should always be heavy but also healthy. This is because most of our heavy works are done during the day. Therefore, the majority of the carbohydrates should be taken during the day as it gives us maximum energy.
I really liked the book. It was very informative and helpful to lead a healthy life. There are so many things in the book to discuss with but unfortunately I can't give out that many details. I even got to know the root causes of hypertension, heart attacks, obesity, and many other problems related to health. I believe, this book would be helpful for teenagers as well as old aged people. Today's youth does not follow a healthy diet and are prone to numerous health issues while, the old aged people are oblivious to the new health problems. This book proves to be a great guide for all those who want to know about a healthy living. I did not find any typing or grammatical errors while reading this book. This book is well edited and has no major mistakes. I give this book a 4 out of 4.
