From Drift to Shift is a non-fiction novel by Jody B. Miller. I’d like to begin by congratulating the author on such a commendable job, by releasing this remarkable book to the world. She is truly one to give light to the others. Her dedication ought not to go unnoticed as she selflessly musters different yet similar stories from corners of the earth with an aim to aid a common problem. She portrays courage as she shares some of her somewhat private occurrences in her life. Vividness and clarity is a skill she has mastered in her writing, she ensures you do not miss an experience even in her interviews. She is simply exemplary.
However, this is a review of her book. The author employs simplicity in her flow and tremendous know how of when to employ vocabulary. From Drift to Shift is a collection of life stories of well appreciated individuals who have undergone affliction, some more mental, others spiritual and even physical. These same individuals were able to overcome adversity, some by faith and others by being keen to natural assisting signs. Every section nonetheless, shows how they were generally able to survive and thrive, but in each section each story concurs to the current point the author tries to drive home, which without a doubt is not a word out of topic, brilliance. The author makes it possible to relate to all despite the different scenarios. I especially appreciated the order of the book; synchronicity of the testimonials is in absolute favor of the reader. I further interconnected to this book because some parts were a tad bit emotive even to myself to a rational extent. Comprehensively; the author meant to assist anyone in any kind of muck in their lives to be able to slowly but progressively free yourself and if that’s not kind enough, ensure that you keep yourself from turning back to old habits. How best to do this if not with real life success stories?
I was particularly concerned with the extensively and sort of excessive details on Hinduism, which should not be a problem since the author clarifies that it is not a religion. I feel it would not flow at par with persons with strong albeit contrasting beliefs to Hinduism. But personally I had no problem with it, in fact I learnt much more than I have ever learned elsewhere.
To add, this book is not only meant for those undergoing major shift in their lives. In the current world we are living in, technology and constant chase for perfection requires that we change rapidly so we can save the world from destruction by our unconscious acts or we will not survive. This thus requires that we constantly shift (even minor) in order to thrive on a continuous basis. On a sub-conscious level it ensures that we understand this and to know when and how to apply.
I without a doubt rate this book a 4 out of 4. This book will challenge you positively and make you question your life progress, help you assess whether you deserve better and shows you how to get better. Why wouldn’t you need this? I recommend this book to each person regardless of age, gender or occupation. It is mandatory that we shift so a broader smile and a better world ensue tomorrow. I cannot wait to read the upcoming one you have in store for us Jody. Your work is overwhelming. Thank you.
