"Beyond the Golden Door" by Ali Master is a personal chronicle of the author's immigration experience from Pakistan to the United States in the mid-eighties. The author uses his personal experiences to show us what being an American really entails. What are the freedoms that one enjoys while living in the United States? This question is answered in the story.

In the book, we follow the author's journey as he moves to the United States to pursue an education. He shares the challenges and failures that he went through while adapting to life there. Finally, he came to find his redemption in love and faith. Being a Muslim, it was hard to fall in love with a Christian girl. However, he is able to overcome this and follow whatever he thinks is the right decision. In the end, he also changes his religion, which was also a hard decision to make as he was raised in a Muslim family.

Being someone with the desire to one day study in the United States, I felt connected so much to the story. It gives me hope that one day I may also be able to achieve my dream. It also makes me anxious to experience the freedom that comes with living in the United States. The author's narrative serves as an insightful reflection on the values and principles that make the United States what it is.
I would rate the book 5 out of 5. It is well edited, as I found no typing errors. Having used the audio version for the first time, I enjoyed the story even more, as it was much more clear and easy to read. The author's use of his real-life story helps give a much better understanding of whatever he is explaining. I can recommend the book to anyone with the idea of one day travelling to the United States, as it will give them a real-life example of what to expect.
