Review of Who Will Accompany You?
Written in a reflective and engaging style, Who Will Accompany You takes readers from Nepal to Colombia with authors Meg Stafford, Kate Stafford, and Gale Stafford. The book is divided into three sections and focuses on Meg Stafford's experience of new cultures as she accompanies her daughters. Section one recollects Kate and Meg's adventures in Nepal and Bhutan. This adventure is initiated by Kate when she decides to study happiness from the Buddhist perspective for her final project. Throughout this, Meg provides an exciting account of her adventure. At the same time, Kate uses journaling to record her journey to understanding happiness. The second section details the adventure of Meg and her older daughter Gale, who also takes on a new challenge when she decides to work for a nongovernmental organization in rural Colombia. These two sections speak about travel but highlight Meg's love for her children and her struggle to allow the bird to leave the nest. Section three gives a back story about the family, thus allowing a greater understanding of each family member's personality.
I love the detailed descriptions. Through well-written text, I was able to visualize every scene. The pictures included were a lovely touch, which further enhanced my visualization. The mother-daughter dynamic is indeed something to applaud. While it is adventurous, Meg's love for her children captured me. Kate's journal entries wonderfully enthused me. It allowed me to view the adventure from her emotional point of view and, above all, the fantastic thrills of this book. I love Kate's topic of happiness. Indeed, this is something that we all desire, yet there is no one path to finding it.
I don't dislike anything about this book. It is well-written and has no grammatical errors. The adventure is captivating and uses a light-hearted tone to ensure a smooth, exciting story.
I rate this book 5 out of 5. It is a delight to see how far Meg Stafford was willing to accompany her children. The book is engaging from start to finish, and with such an exquisite writing style, it is simply a well-written memoir.
I wholeheartedly recommend this novel to those who enjoy the thrill of adventure. This book is a must-read for those who desire exposure to different cultures. It also appeals to readers of family, friendship, and happiness novels.
