Review of Rise and Conquer
In Juan Perdita's Rise and Conquer: The unrivaled Mindset and self-discipline to achieve your wildest goals, he does not mince words. The straightforward presentation of the material in this self-help book delivers a one-two punch to anyone seeking to understand why they are not more successful in their career and how to change their circumstances.
Several things emerged quickly as I read this motivational gem: Perdita has been where we are; he is personally driven to succeed, writes in first-person, and speaks like a coach. "I know this because I have been where you are right now," he says, "I understand why most people quit; in fact—I nearly quit too," and "I want you to look upon this moment as the turning point in your battle against mediocrity;" these are just a few examples of his persuasive and energetic style. The author owns a thriving business, has realized his dreams, and shares his methodology for success in Rise and Conquer.
I found his approach engaging and evocative. Right off the bat, he asks the reader to examine their situation and take responsibility for assuming victimhood. Perdita's writing is marked by a passionate and urgent tone. His style is direct, motivating, and reminded me of a coach's pep talk—designed to energize and mobilize readers. His passion and intensity shines through and is well-suited to his subject. Perdita's approach is highly effective for those who need a push to get started or to keep going when the going gets tough.
The author's blunt writing style is easy to follow and engage with. I enjoyed Perdita's explanation of the core principles he promotes in this motivational guide to business success. For example, Perdita hammers home the importance of self-discipline, stressing that it is the cornerstone of success. Not quitting, having goals, and having a growth mentality are also principles for success. Perdita speaks of the necessity of bouncing back from failures and viewing setbacks as learning opportunities rather than roadblocks. He explains how having a vision and setting measurable goals is critical to success. Being a lifelong learner is essential to staying relevant and gaining long-term success.
Each chapter of Rise and Conquer ends with a call to action, encouraging readers to apply what they have learned immediately. The problem I encountered was feeling like I was drinking through a firehose while reading this book, as the chapters are long and full of information. The action steps are great but involve reflection exercises, goal-setting tasks, or small daily habits to incorporate. Shorter chapters and professional editing for grammar are my only suggestions to the author. In addressing these key issues, readers would understand the text more efficiently and reach a stopping point where they could contemplate, reflect, and consider all they have read.
In conclusion, the positive impact to be gained from the advice in Rise and Conquer is practical and actionable. Perdita provides concrete steps and real-life examples to illustrate how readers can apply the information he shares. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The formatting of this book is lovely; however, the lack of grammar editing led to the one-star deduction.
