From smelling like garlic and repelling people to smelling like a million dollars and attracting people from all walks of life, Breaking the Mould: Remodeling Your Way to Success, by Fabian Videla, is the epitome of rags to riches. In this autobiography and guidebook, we follow the life of Fabian from the time he was a mischievous yet industrious boy who came from humble beginnings in Argentina all the way to his adulthood, where he built a family, took the risk of leaving everything behind and relocated to the States in pursuit of a better life, and pioneered businesses that would all eventually lead him to a life of prestige and fortune. Fabian doesn’t just expose us to his life; his book consists of indispensable lessons and guidelines that can assist entrepreneurs as they attempt to start their businesses and be fruitful regardless of the circumstances.

I loved every aspect of this book. I was immediately drawn to it from the time I started reading it to the end. I found it thoughtful that the author gave us a summary of all the points that were covered in each chapter at the end of the book and that I didn’t need to go back if I missed a point. The author also included code scanners at the end of each chapter so that the reader could access a variety of content. I saw how the author represented resilience and hard work from the time he was a young boy all the way to his present life, and this encouraged me. I loved how he shared his past, his present, and his aspirations for the future. This book is filled with timeless knowledge and wisdom that will definitely help me on my personal journey of entrepreneurship. He also incorporated a great deal of humour, which brought life to the book.

There was nothing that bothered me in this book. It was bittersweet, helpful, comical, and filled with perpetual knowledge and wisdom on life lessons and entrepreneurship.

I would’ve regarded this book as perfect if it weren’t for the preventable mistakes that I came across throughout the book. Though the number of mistakes did not outweigh the good qualities of the book, I believe that it could’ve been edited better. The major lesson that I took from his personal stories and ventures is that I shouldn’t put my eggs in one basket. Fabian ventured into multiple businesses, not knowing whether each of them would be hit-or-miss. Regardless of that, his persistence and spirit of entrepreneurship eventually led him to become not just wealthy but an influential figure. This book has also encouraged me to never stop accumulating knowledge and to share that knowledge with others because the journey to success is better when you have people by your side. Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I took many lessons from it that will be applied to my life and my business ventures. Therefore, I give this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is embarking on their journey of entrepreneurship. Those who would like to set foot in the construction industry would relate to this book and find it helpful. The fact that Fabian has been on both sides of life’s spectrum makes this book suitable for all people from different walks of life.
