Are you being haunted by your past? Did it completely shatter your self esteem? Do you feel like you are in a tight spot and that you have no where to turn to? i]From drift to shift[/i] is a rare kind of motivational non fiction book written by Jody B. Miller which seeks to help you reconcile your past, present and future. It takes you through a path of re- discovery.
Divorce, child neglect, depression, ambitions, spiritual discovery, career and diseases such as cancer (just to name a few) are the themes that dominate this amazing book. The author firmly addresses these issues after she survives a divorce coupled with having a disabled child to raise but she rises against all these odds and puts it all down in this knowledge-filled book.
You will get to encounter amazing characters such as Serita and Reid, Jerry, Darren, Sloan and her husband Bob, Manoj and finally you will get to travel to the Amazon to visit the Achuar tribe. All these are faced with unique challenges but there is one thing that unites them all as the human race: Love! They prove he fact that no matter how strong you are, a time comes when you need help.
The mysterious title and the praises showered on the book by some of the people who read it, are what drew me to the book. These readers are filled with gratitude because the book changed their lives in positive ways. At first, i thought that it was an exaggeration on their part until i began reading the book.I realized just how much i had under-estimated it.
What impressed me about the book is that the author has used biblical allusion without interrupting the flow of the story. I also agree with the author's sentiments that we need to embrace all religions. The author has also gone through the trouble of summarizing every chapter and at the end of the book, there are questions to act as a bench mark to the reader.
I loved the fact that the author has included some of the most successful people to share their real life experiences about how they faced hardships and how they came through it all stronger. The story of Emily left me emotional as she struggled with cancer, financial problems and a divorce all served in one plate but she did not throw in the towel.
There is so much that readers can learn from this book especially those in search of happiness; look no further. It will introduce you to some amazing characters whom you might be able to identify yourself with. It will make you appreciate your family, companion and friends. You will ''follow your heart regardless of what opposition you may face'' as is written in the book.
I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. I can affirm that i was not disappointed one bit after reading From drift to shift. My spirit was lifted, my mind was opened and finally i started pondering about my future save for the past. I highly recommend this book to all the readers in search for insight into life. Happiness is just a book away!

Great review, what is your opinion on the Hindu/Buddha archetypes? That was my favorite part in this book.

I did not have any sentiments when it came to this part because i am not very familiar with the religion. I felt like it was a bit scary but i love the determination when it came to visiting temples.juliusotinyo wrote:Hi Marylynn,
