The book begins with a re-enactment of events in the garden of Eden and how these events shape the destiny of humanity. The re-enactment opens the reader's imagination to picture Adam as human life begins on Earth. The writer's illustrations point to a perfect State of existence between creation and creator due to the relationship man had with God before the fall, the ramification of the fall and redemption through Jesus Christ. William Combs is a retired Presbyterian minister, married for 48 years, has a master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary.

The book's narrative is based on biblical records embellished with stories by the author to give the reader a clearer picture of what transpired in the garden of Eden. It sets the tone for exploring why man fell and the consequence of the fall on his spiritual and physical well being. It also explores why Jesus Christ came and the redemptive power of His blood through His sacrifice on the cross for mankind.

'Sin' is often viewed as an offense committed by an individual against a spiritual authority. Furthermore, It is classed into right and wrong with the 'feel good' feeling that if we do the right things we are not sinners. Suffice to say the perception is wrong as sin should be viewed as a life long recognition of the falling short of God's Grace and the need for salvation through Jesus Christ to allow for access to God's eternal Grace.

The acquisition of the knowledge of God and evil through the eating of the fruit lead to the birth of the sinful nature in man. The exhibition of that nature was seen in the murder of Abel by his brother Cain. This was resultant from the wellspring of sin acquired and present in man. The compulsions of this wellspring can be overcome by the realization that an individual was born a sinner with his/her salvation based on the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross to expunge sin through faith in Him.
This book gives invaluable insights for believers of the Christ faith albeit from the writer's perspective.

Though the author is unpretentious in his belief and has a unique writing style, there is disconnect as observed where a lioness violently seizes an ewe with Adam presuming that the ewe may have sacrifice her life for his. God had given man dominion overcome everything on Earth and equilibrium was lost after the fall of man.

The book is well written with the conviction of deep seated belief. Credit is due the writer for an enjoyable and compelling writeup that transcends experience and feeling. I rate this book 4 out of 4.

I also review this book. This is a book about salvation that we must accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. All of us fall into sin and we cannot save ourselves. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God-Rom. 3:23

Accept that you have sin and believe that Jesus Christ is able to forgive you from all unrighteousness. Confess all your sin to Jesus Christ alone. He will forgive you. He will give you peace and His grace is sufficient for you to endure. God bless you today.

Rom. 3:23 for the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
