According to Dr. Rachel Sims, "Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid?" is not the run-of-the-mill relationship self-help book. Don't underestimate the power of the content; some tips are interesting to put into practice, but it's essential that you go beyond and look for the myths that can create some obstacles in your romantic relationships.

The book excels in the field of a more adequate explanation of familiar relationship myths. From the "soulmate" fantasy that never met a real person to a lot of pressure to make a decision, she busts these myths with no-nonsense and laughter. She shows that these fantasies may result in inadequate forms of love, accepting everything below par, or total apathy toward love. The narrator of the essay also emphasizes self-awareness as a behavior that can lead to healthy relationships. She not only provides readers with exercises that help them locate their relationship habits and baggage but also encourages them to meditate on these things. This self-consciousness enables one to understand how, for instance, their recent history might be an important driving force in their decision-making in the present.

The book didn't give straightforward solutions or draw a portrait of happiness in marriage. While Sims doesn't really give straightforward solutions for real-life complexities, he does furnish readers with practical tools for walking through them. Through things such as strategic communication tactics and healthy boundaries, these tools enable people to improve their relationships and attain the fulfillment they desire.

On the one hand, this realistic cast of the book contributes to its credibility, but on the other hand, it may come across as too dry at times. Readers who want a more lyrical depiction of what love is may find the mood too earthy. In addition, some could argue that these sessions, despite being very meaningful, feel a little formulaic. The book's name, though short and to the point, is also repellent. This makes us believe that there are only two kinds of really valid decisions when it comes to love: intelligent and senseless. This may possibly come across as too cold and adverse.

"Are You Love Smart or Love Stupid?" delves deep beyond the usual stereotypes and guides the reader to self-discovery, armed with self-awareness and practical tools. While the title and approach are not the best, the main idea of debunking myths and learning to have a healthy relationship is enough reason to pick it up for all those who want to be smarter for love and not the other way around. The editing was actually superb. This is why I will rate the book a full 4 out of 5 stars.
