I really liked this ‘how to do’ manual, with its clear instructions and free links and training, with a discount. It doesn’t just leave you hanging there; it offers a follow-up. It was difficult to read to start with, as it started with talking about the pandemic and brought some hard memories to the surface. But as it moved on, it was clear that this was not a ‘pandemic’ book. However, I was a bit skeptical at first, as it spoke a lot about the corporate world, and I was looking for personal help. I was also worried that this was going to be just another religious book. It talks about faith, love, and hope being linked, but it also explains how they are linked, in a not-at-all religious context.
I really liked the examples of real people under real circumstances and with real stress. Regi’s story was inspirational, and I began to wonder whether Regi was, in fact, a real person or an invention. I tried to memorize some quotes in case I would need to refer to them in the future, like “We can choose to respond to circumstances” or “Hope for the best, expect the worst”.
My only complaint would be the extracts in italics that were pulled out of the text. They distracted me from reading on, as I came across them within the text too, so I was thinking, “I’ve already read this!” My suggestion would be to take these out completely from the main text to limit distraction, just to leave them standing out in italics to draw attention to them. This book was quite hard to read anyway. I had to return repeatedly back a few pages to remember the context. However, the editing of the book was flawless. I would rate it at five out of five.
Overall, I would truly recommend this book to all, not just those who seem to be struggling with life at the moment, but also those who are fine right now, as we don’t know when we are next in line.
