Where are my ladies??! Have you been experiencing abdominal discomfort, bloating, and irregular sleeping patterns, among others? Well, I strongly advise you to join this moving train as J.L. Service takes us on a gastronomic adventure to find simple and unique methods for dealing with these issues. From dietary control to dietary recommendations and yoga poses, Service takes us on this personal journey in her book called Essential Gut Health for Women Over 50 shedding light on a brief description of the digestive system and educating us on the “good” and “bad” microbiome in our gut and how it plays an impeccable role in our lives. Reading this book felt like going on a tour of an amazing museum, a.k.a. the digestive system, with Service being the tour guide and explaining the importance of every part of this amazing system. I learned a lot of things I didn’t know about the gut, the dos and don’ts of dietary meals, helpful yoga poses, and lots more!!

One compelling aspect of this book is how it has recommendations for every problem women over 50 are bound to or have already experienced in their lifetime. Service wrote this book in such a way that everybody could benefit from it, be it male or female. In addition to that, the illustrations of the yoga poses and the step-to-step procedure made the yoga positions easy to perform, and I am going to incorporate yoga into my physical activities.

Another intriguing aspect of this book is when she shows us the gut-brain connection. Service described the gut as the “second brain” and how it affects our mood and mental health. I finally understand why we feel down or moody when we skip a meal or two and then feel happy and alive after satisfying our cravings. Amazing, right? I thought so too!!

One thing I disliked about this book is how the author failed to input enough personal experiences to make people better understand how the “bad” organism can badly affect our gut health and destabilize us. I honestly think the book will benefit more when those experiences are added. Aside from that, I found nothing to criticize about this book, and it deserves a chef kiss. So if you are a woman over 50 experiencing digestive disorders and you’ve been looking for a reliable solution to your problems, then I recommend this book for you! Hurry now and regain control over your gut health, your mental health, and your life in general, because this book will show practical strategies for you to be free from poor gut health and live life with a renewed sense, a burst of energy, and, of course, glowing skin.

I gave this book a rating of 4 out of 5 stars because it offers valuable insights into the importance of gut health and provides practical solutions to common digestive issues faced by women over 50. The service's clear explanations of the digestive system, dietary recommendations, and yoga poses make complex concepts easy to understand and implement. The inclusion of illustrations for yoga poses enhances the reader's ability to incorporate them into their routine. Additionally, the exploration of the gut-brain connection adds depth to the discussion and helps readers understand the impact of gut health on mental well-being. However, the lack of personal experiences to illustrate the effects of "bad" organisms on gut health could have further enriched the book's content. The book was exceptionally well-edited and error-free.
