The Glorious Beast! by Scott L. Chally is a captivating tale that spans over a decade, exploring the lives of two boys who eventually establish a successful delivery business and become entangled with a mob cartel. The book is a blend of drama, suspense, and a touch of the supernatural, making it an engaging read.

The book starts with the protagonists in their 7th grade, setting the stage for their friendship and the initial conflicts they face. The narrative then jumps ten years into the future, where the real action begins. The plot is well-structured, and the transitions between different timelines are smooth.

The characters are well-developed, with distinct personalities and motivations. The protagonists' growth and transformation throughout the story are commendable. However, the supporting characters could have been more fleshed out to add more depth to the narrative.

The book's pacing is steady, with a good balance between action and introspection. The author manages to maintain the suspense throughout the story, keeping the readers engaged. The writing is clear and concise, with a few minor typos that do not significantly impact the reading experience.

The book's premise is unique and intriguing, blending real-world issues with supernatural elements. The author's exploration of mental health, particularly bipolar disorder, is commendable. However, the sudden shift towards the supernatural in the latter part of the book feels a bit abrupt and could have been better integrated into the narrative.

The book's ending is satisfying, providing a fitting conclusion to the story. However, the sudden turn of events might leave some readers feeling overwhelmed. The author could have spent more time building up to the climax to make it more impactful.

In conclusion, The Glorious Beast! is a compelling read that explores friendship, ambition, and the human condition. Despite a few minor issues, the book is well-written and engaging. I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The author's unique premise and engaging storytelling make up for the minor shortcomings, making it a worthwhile read.
