Surviving the "Business" of Healthcare.
Author: Barbara Galutia Regis M.S. PA-C.

The author, Barbara Galutia Regis M.S. PA-C, is concerned with the state of medical care costs and quality for the average American. She can remember the personal touch of her father's practice in her home town of Coopersburg, Pennsylvania. She writes about the value of the patient/P.C.P. (Primary Care Provider) relationship and how it has diminished over her generation. She is a cancer survivor and has first-hand knowledge of the business of medicine due to her profession, which includes the role of Chief Operations Officer at Renaissance Medical Group and her present role as a solo practitioner and health care manager. She also has a Facebook page: Ask the P.A.

She helpfully explains the different types of professions inside the medical industry. Chapters are devoted to helping us, the patients or customers, advising us to shop around, even on Amazon, for cheaper or generic medications. To help the elderly as they can be easily scammed or not know about more affordable options. Do not automatically start taking a new drug simply because it's new and nicely advertised: do not "fix anything that's not broken." The Ebates platform is recommended as an excellent site from which to shop. Having medical insurance is so important, she states.

Facts and figures prove the vast amounts of money that the medical industry is making. In a letter to Congress, she strongly suggests not overcharging the uninsured and a possible 'Catastrophic Insurance' for those who can't afford regular insurance. Barbara also has an interesting opinion about the considerable developments in medical technology; she hopes it will not replace the one-on-one patient/physician experience.

The book has a caring tone. She seems genuinely frustrated by the present state of affairs. I hope her letters are taken seriously and instigate changes in the medical industry. I found no grammatical errors, so that I will award this book a 5-star rating. Anyone of any age can read it, but it would benefit those living in America the most.
