Sex and the Sixty-Something Guy is a book where the author, Mr. X, discusses his dating life and everything he learned. The book isn’t written objectively with statistics and such. Rather, it’s written in a more suitable tone. One that makes it feel like the author is talking directly to you, telling you how they felt about dating so late in life. Throughout the book, Mr. X gives his opinion on all sorts of dating methods, such as with apps, websites, matchmakers, and even through friends and colleagues. He proceeds to describe over 60 dates he went on as a man in his 60s after his divorce.

I’m still young but I found this book surprisingly interesting considering it’s not what I usually read. Though I can’t relate, his perspectives on all of the dating sites, matchmakers, and apps he had gone through were particularly interesting.

The majority of the book was comprised of details from the 64 dates that Mr. X saw fit to write about. This section is where he struggled to keep my attention. The dates are summarized well in just one or two pages, which makes it quick and easy to go through them at least.

I don’t agree with a lot of what Mr. X says, but I did find this to be a very informative read. Most of the advice he lists can be applied to any man in even a remotely similar position. If you are looking for dating advice, I highly recommend this book, especially the insightful ending. However, for most other situations, I can't say I would recommend this book at all.

Sex and the Sixty-Something Guy has a difficult genre to pin down. You would expect romance or drama, but there isn't much of either. On top of that, it isn't very entertaining. The dating advice is the main thing it has going for it unless you have an interest in this specific type of book and narrative. It's because of this that I choose to rate this book a 3 out of 5.
