Lablance Fish Tales Two is a biographical book that was written by Peter Lablance. This book serves as an account of the Lablance family’s commercial fishing adventures on the Great Lakes. It is composed of stories from Peter himself, his family members, and newspaper articles. In this book, we get to see the rich, groundbreaking history of the Lablance family as well as other local fishermen, dating all the way back to the 1800s. This book carries the essence of resilience, hard work, and family. However, we bear witness to the struggles and responsibilities that come with being a commercial fisherman, many tragic moments, and prejudice towards fishermen.

I am a visual learner, so the photographs and illustrations were a nice addition to the book. I love how each person’s story is different from the others, giving the reader multiple perspectives. Out of all the tales, I was mostly intrigued by "Catherine’s Fish Tales" because it was nice to see things from a woman’s standpoint, especially in a male-dominated industry. Lastly, I loved the essence of family and codependency; it’s always a beautiful thing to see.

The major issue that I had with this book was that it lacked proper structure. It was written in a disorderly manner. It would have been better if each chapter started on a new page.

I give this book a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. I commend the author for sharing such sentimental and sensitive memories. I also found this book to be insightful. Awareness was raised about the prejudice that fishermen face. It was filled with adventure; however, it lacked an element of fun. It was poorly structured, and there were multiple typos, so it could’ve been edited better.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves non-fiction, historical accounts, and the technicalities of commercial fishing.
