The short book, Bawdy Jokes and Patter Songs, was written by Denny Hatch. The author wrote this book following the COVID-19 pandemic. The author briefly talked about how he was constantly feeling confused, conflicted, and fearful about all of the different information that was circulating about the pandemic. He talked about how he was fearful and depressed until one of his friends began sending him jokes in an attempt to cheer him up. Soon, he realized that laughter was the cure to all of the negative feelings he had been experiencing. He decided to publish this book to help others with alleviating their fear and depression, and to make the world a happier place.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The book includes 87 jokes and 87 patter songs. Several of the jokes and patter songs also have links to videos of live performances to help the reader see and hear the different jokes and patter songs. I really liked that option because it made some of the jokes even funnier after seeing other people act them out. I also liked how the author included some background information about the entertainment industry.

There was honestly nothing that I did not like about the book. I did not find any grammatical errors or typos while reading. This is a testament to the exceptional editing that was completed to the book prior to publication. I thought the book as very funny and I plan to read the book again I the future whenever I need a laugh.

I would rate this book five out of five stars for the reasons I stated above. This is not typically a book that I would pick up to read, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I would recommend this book to adult readers due to the profane language that is included within the book. This language may not be appropriate for younger readers.
