Review of Niching Up
Chris Dreyer is an ambitious and courageous businessman specializing in search engine optimization (SEO) for personal injury attorneys. Over the years, he has gained significant expertise from his mistakes, tears and sweat in the business. Therefore, the insight he gained through his journey in SEO will educate readers about navigating through the experience he has gained over the years.
In his book, Niching Up, he helps readers know the advantages and disadvantages of niching up and what they should do to excel in their businesses. He advises that before diving into a specific niche, they should first taste the waters and know what is expected in the holistic business venture they want to pursue. Readers are also advised to be passionate and competent in their field and accumulate data to help them decide which niche to settle in. The author also talks about how to outsource your clients, the places to visit, how to approach them and how to create and maintain a good relationship with them. As an expert, you should also learn how to convert your prospective customer into an active customer by creating a good reputation that precedes you as a reliable, easy-going, hardworking businessperson.
I loved the author's transparency in this book. He discusses the negatives and positives of specializing, which he otherwise refers to as niching up. His aim is not to convince readers about how niching is beneficial and why they should venture into it. Instead, his reasons are to guide and help readers who want to venture into niching but need help knowing where to start from. They will know what to expect by knowing what they are getting into. I also loved the examples and stories that he gave to explain his topics. He used famous people like Michael Jordan, Henry Ford and Steve Jobs. These examples make the reading experience enjoyable and easy to understand since they are from people readers can relate to.
There is nothing I liked the least about the book. I liked how practical the book is since one can apply the things they learn from it to their businesses. Learning about data collection will help determine whether the business is progressing or regressing. I commend the author for his selfless attitude. He acknowledges that the cake is big for everyone and advocates for a safe business environment for competitive businesses. To many, your competitor automatically becomes your enemy. However, he advises that competitors can work together and have a healthy working relationship.
The book is exceptionally well edited since I found no mistakes in it. I award it the maximum rating of five out of five stars and recommend Niching Up to prospective businesswomen and men who want to specialize in only one area of their business. The book will provide a map that will guide them as they start their journey to specialization.
