Dreamy Bedtime Meditations For Children(Mindful Magic Series): Embark on Relaxing Sleepytime Adventures to Calm, Soothe Nighttime Anxiety, & Drift Into Peaceful Slumber By Kaela Green Carter is a book that delivers on the promise that the title suggests. As a certified child psychologist, Carter provides parents and caregivers of children, of an array of ages, with some insight into bedtime anxiety and how to help deal with some daytime stresses.

This book reads like it is split into two parts, making it both easy to understand and quick to read. The first part speaks to understanding the importance of quality sleep for children and their healthy mental and emotional development. It provides parents with insight as to what may be causing some bedtime struggles for some little ones. It also talks about how to curate the best environment to encourage truly restorative sleep, as well as the importance of consistency in the practices provided. This book shows how many of the same tools that help us as adults, are equally effective for children. It demonstrates how parents can help children use meditation and mindfulness to self- soothe.

The second part of the book lays out several beautifully written meditations, designed to take children on an amazing voyage of the imagination. The imagery Carter uses in these meditative exercises are sure to guide children to a place of peaceful sleep they will want to visit again and again. The meditations in this book can grow with children as the vocabulary and mental imagery does seem to mature as the book progresses. By the near end of the book, the reader begins to feel confident in their own abilities to create a warm and inviting atmosphere to encourage children to feel safe and relaxed enough to get the restorative sleep they need and deserve.

For me, this book is definitely a 5 out of 5 stars. With very few typos, (that consisted of no space between the period of a sentence and the first word of the next sentence), this book was a breeze to read. It delivers exactly what many young, developing minds need in a time of constant sensory overload from all the screens and constant stimuli in our world today. As I was reading this book I allowed myself to be persuaded by the words on the page. I can say that as I was reading I could feel slumber approaching, I have no doubt the little ones will be fast asleep while listening and enjoying the imagery. I recommend this book for any parent or care-giver of children.
