Relieved: A True Story About Making It Work by Cheryl Richardson. The narrative delves into the true story of a writer who once served as an assistant for a wealthy heiress named Debora. Initially portrayed as a rich, arrogant individual, Debora maintains a guarded distance from everyone. However, delving deeper the book reveals a backstory detailing her upbringing and endured abuse. This sheds light on the lingering mental trauma that is reflected in her distant attitude towards others. Isolated without close family or friends, she finds solace in the company of her cats, although she feigns indifference towards them. It becomes evident that Debora is both crying for help and yet resisting it. Despite her abrasive demeanor, it's apparent she cares for her assistant, the only person she has a connection with. Tragically, Deborah's story is marked by her stubborn refusal to acknowledge her need for assistance, clinging to destructive choices.

The author skillfully narrates the book, employing vivid descriptions that immerse the reader in the scenes. The detailed character portrayals, especially in a true-life context, enhance the impactful lessons derived from the narrative. Debora emerges as a complex character, grappling with emotional turmoil that manifests in her aloofness and life choices. Despite her apparent desire for solitude, her penchant for reaching out to her assistant and the companionship of cats hint at an unfulfilled need for connection. The book is also embedded with life lessons.

The absence of any dislike is attributed to the impeccable writing and editing, devoid of errors. The book prompts contemplation, urges readers to fathom Debora's character and cultivate empathy for her struggles.

This book receives a commendable 5 out of 5 stars for its ability to evoke emotions and engage readers on a profound intellectual level.

I highly recommend this book to nonfiction enthusiasts, particularly those inclined towards memoirs or biographies. I also recommend this to readers seeking an interesting read or those willing to explore something new.
