This book is a good read, 4/5 stars. It was a little confusing, due to jumping topic to topic before returning back to the original train of thought, but can still be understood. It definitely reads like someone's thought process spilled onto the page. However, the idea of using her dairy of a very personal adventure to tell a larger story was beautiful.

The chapters break up travel from country to country as well as their mini adventures. The author does a good job of mixing in hardship during the journey with joy caused by decades of sisterhood. It was easy to become another sister within the story. She takes the reader by the hand and draws them into the story from the first hotel to the last.

She is very honest in her prose. She admits her thoughts and statements without remorse throughout. There is a clear representation of love that shines in the tales she tells about their adventures. She is brutally clear about their fights and how they make up with each other. At the beginning, the reader is drawn in, and then it becomes clear where the cracks lie within the foundation. The author then does a wonderful job of bringing you into her family, with its drama and wonder, without telling every small detail. She balances all three of their personal histories and history with each other, along with education components regarding tourist sights and personal feelings regarding their adventure.

The few areas of difficulty were the juxtaposition of adventure, versus when the author reveals sections of her past. She will draw you into a piece of their story, then take you out of it to tell a different one, sometimes two, before returning you to the original story. Though it worked as a spilled thought prose, there were areas of the overall book where it is jarring and does not fit well.

Overall, this book was a really joy filled read. It makes me want to call my own siblings to start an adventure of our own!
