Have you ever been in Cheryl's shoes? Working for a frustrating boss, being pushed to the wall, being harassed and unappreciated after giving your all, but your desperate need for money prevents you from calling it quits. This is exactly the position Cheryl finds herself in.

Relieved: A True Story about Making It Work, a book written by Cheryl Richardson, is a memoir that recounts the author's relationship and experience while working for a wealthy oil heiress, Debora. Debora is the daughter of a former beauty queen and an oil tycoon father. Though she possesses wealth and beauty, she is difficult to associate with. She spends most of her time on the phone. Cheryl's relationship with Debora started just as a massage therapist and it progressed rapidly to a personal assistant and finally to a friend and confidante. As the relationship progressed, Cheryl experienced a lot of moments of frustration, inconvenience, and discouragement.

I applaud the author for sharing her personal experience so others can learn from it. Apart from being well-written, this book conveys a lot of powerful messages on perseverance and tenacity. Debora's distorted perspective of life and disregard for others are largely due to her painful experience. This shows how some negative experiences can impact one's character and relationships with others. Despite her thankless and untoward attitude, Cheryl stood by her.

Truth be told, I got bored at some point while reading this book, but I believe it is understandable since it is a memoir. Apart from this, I have nothing against the book. It is exceptionally well-written with well-constructed sentences. It is also free of errors which confirms that it was professionally edited. Also, I was able to learn one or two things from Cheryl's perseverance. Considering these points, I give this book a full rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

It is to be noted that this book contains profane terms and descriptions of explicit scenes. With this in mind, I recommend this book to mature readers who take pleasure in slow-paced memoirs and stories that border on perseverance.
