A Dream for Peace: A Memoir by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a profound and personal account that delves into the author's life journey, characterized by a strong commitment to education, resistance against colonialism, and a relentless pursuit of higher learning and peace.

The memoir narrates Berrah's upbringing, starting from his childhood and focusing on his family's deep emphasis on education and intellectual pursuit. This played a significant role in shaping his perspective and ambitions, which will later be of great importance in his life pursuits. The memoir further recounts Berrah's academic journey, where he reached his achievements despite facing blatant racism and discrimination in the educational system.

I loved how the narrative highlights the author's early confrontation with racism and colonialism, since it is a recurring theme in the book. These personal episodes that he recounts in the book underline his strength and drive to rise against these systemic issues and inspire the reader to take a stand against systemic issues.

The book covers every small aspect of the author's life, from the behind-the-scenes of historical events, up to his married life. I believe the reader will be amazed by the fact that the author was close to some historical characters, such as John Kennedy, as well as by the supporting evidence in the form of documents and photos. It is a very detailed book, recounting the author's journey to diplomacy.

Overall, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. It is not just a personal memoir; it's a testament to the resilience and determination of an individual in the face of colonial oppression and his unwavering commitment to education, peace, and intercultural understanding. It is professionally edited, both from a grammatical and structural standpoint. I recommend this book to anyone interested in systemic issues, diplomacy, or just someone who wants to find out more about important events that shaped our society.
