Review of A Dream For Peace
The nonfiction book A Dream for Peace was written by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah. Readers are provided with an in-depth description of Ghoulem Berrah's life in this book. Young Ghoulem Berrah fought for Algeria's independence as a freedom fighter. He left Bordeaux, France, where he was an activist medical student, to take part in the Algerian struggle. A few years later, he visited Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, as a distinguished Fulbright Scholar. His work served as an inspiration for breakthroughs in the field of biological sciences. After the successful completion of his Ph.D., Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was given the position of professor at the Yale School of Medicine and made a permanent member of the New York Academy of Sciences. Berrah was a peace activist when he was a young child. In addition to bringing about peace, he is also dedicated to fighting racism and colonialism. The author had to get around multiple barriers on his journey to successfully bring out peace.
The extraordinary adaptability and steadfast dedication of Dr. Berrah to improving the world have been demonstrated in his life. It's a long book with 644 pages. The captivating nature of Dr. Berrah's life and travels overshadows the book's length, too. Even though reading it wasn't simple. In addition to presenting insights into Dr. Berrah's life, the book presents an insightful viewpoint on African history. It is an interesting and educational read because it is expertly edited and thoroughly detailed. The author's main motivation for wishing for an independent Algeria free of French invaders stemmed from the racial persecution he experienced. The story did not lack details about Dr. Ghoulem Berrah's family or personal life. Before becoming a diplomat, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah taught virology at the University of Yale School of Medicine. There has never been an easy road to peace, particularly in a world full of people with many cultures, religions, lifestyles, and other viewpoints. All these are evident in this book.
The book includes details about conversations and events that are remembered. The author is genuine and truthful in his description of his life, work, and hobbies. He has no problem expressing how much he values his wife and their time together. I appreciate how well the author describes his life. The book's straightforward language makes it easier for readers to understand the plot. In addition, I appreciate how the graphics in the book enhance the narrative flow. I was quite impressed by the author's careful consideration of detail when describing his family and their values. The empathetic nature of Dr. Berrah's relationship with his mother is noticeable. The book, which particularly captures a broad overview of twentieth-century history through Berrah's lens, is packed with small things and written in the idealist voice of someone fascinated by the big picture. It details how Algerian history was suppressed by French colonizers, how Berrah became active in activism, and how he went from studying science to giving political advice.
This book is fantastic in every chapter, in my opinion. Without people like Dr. Ghoulem Berrah, I don't think the current generation in some African countries would be able to enjoy the peace and independence they do now. This novel's storyteller has done a fantastic job of capturing every moment. Encouraging phrases can be found throughout the book to highlight important ideas, and can make readers excited about the next chapters.
I will award this novel 5 out of 5 stars. It has been expertly edited. While reading it, I did come across just a couple of errors. This book doesn't include any profane language. This novel doesn't use any foul language. The grammar used is flawless. I awarded this rating because it was entertaining and I was also educated about diplomacy. The book also includes a ton of photos that readers can use to better understand Dr. Berrah's experiences. His life would be an inspiration for generations to come.
The Honorable Dr. Ghoulem Berrah (1938–2011) devoted his life to advancing global peace. The author reveals the history of an intriguing love tale amid the diplomatic saga. He is an ecumenical leader and a devoted Muslim who guides you to Jerusalem, the Vatican, and Mecca, a story that would captivate any reader.
