Review of Reflections: Words From the Soul
Reflections: Words from the Soul by Dan Babcock is a nonfiction book that discusses topics that delve into different spheres of life. This book is great for anyone who is interested in how to handle everyday situations better. This book discussed several important topics. The first chapter discussed awareness, how this makes us more productive, and how we can use this to have a greater purpose in life. Several other topics touched on the “mirror effect”, which states that whatever we give out to the world is what we will receive in return. I thought this concept was very interesting. There is a chapter about thriving, and it portrayed how we observe and react to any negative situations we may commonly face. There was also a chapter that discussed how evolution means adapting to changes in the world, and detailed how this will make us more susceptible to obtaining success. Additional topics discussed in the book include negatives and positives, egos, giving and receiving, seeing the world through rose colored glasses, among several others.
My favorite chapters were the ones that discussed negative and positive events that happen in our everyday lives. The author really strived to show how to take charge of any unfortunate events that may occur, and how we can try to use these events to our advantage and to change our attitude towards the world. The author encouraged readers to search out positive elements within these events and use them to see that the situation isn't as bad as they thought. When doing this, readers will discover that they can recover from the unfortunate incident rather quickly. The author also went into detail about how showing emotions can be detrimental if we show them excessively. There is a chapter that encourages the need for readers to find balance with experiencing their feelings and expressing their feelings.
There was honestly nothing that I did not like about the book. I thought the book was extremely insightful, and it will have a positive impact on my life after reading it. I found no spelling errors or typos within the text, a testament to the exceptional editing done to the book.
I would rate this book five out of five stars for the reasons I stated above. I learned a lot from the topics discussed within this book that will be valuable to me and I look forward to applying them within my personal life.
I would recommend this book to any reader who is looking to see life in a different way and looking to get the most out of their life.
