The book "When Business Is Love" by Jan Ryde belongs more to the genre of literature that should inspire readers to achieve new heights, teach them how to do so, what's required, and what mistakes to avoid. Author Jan Ryde not only shares the story of his company but also his own life, which is an integral part of the company's development. For him, this book is not just a meaningless publication; it's a kind of reward for the goal he set for himself. Jan Ryde promised himself that he would write a book about his success once his company earned over 1 billion Swedish kronor.

The central idea of the book is the importance of infusing as much love as possible into what you create. It emphasizes prioritizing the quality of your products or services over the pursuit of money and profits, highlighting that Hästens and Apple Inc. share this commitment to quality and a focus on improving their customers' lives. This is why these companies are associated with reliability and prestige. Hästens aims to enhance its customers' sleep quality, presenting compelling arguments for why they should focus on the quality of sleep. The book even mentions that those who sleep well live up to 20 years longer than those who sleep poorly.

In my personal opinion, the book doesn't significantly differ from many others in the same genre. Many well-known individuals, entrepreneurs, or public figures have written books about their path to success, often assuring readers they can achieve the same. The seemingly enticing phrase "you can build a company with love" conceals the years of hard work that might devalue such a statement. Certainly, love for your work is important, but without diligence, determination, and sometimes stubbornness, it won't lead to success. There are numerous examples of companies that invested love in their work but ultimately didn't succeed. In most cases, a company's success is a combination of luck and ingenuity. Simply doing something with love is often insufficient.

Overall, the book is suitable for a one-time read for those who enjoy "my path to success" stories, but I didn't find anything particularly informative or useful from it.
