Phobia Relief by Kalliope Barlis, it’s a very short, but quite painful to finish book.

I do not have any traumatic fear that would affect my everyday life and would push me to act on it. However, I got curious about Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques mentioned in the description and wanted to check what is it about and if I could use it elsewhere.
And after finishing the book, I’m not sure if I can.

It is hard for me to evaluate the method because the form completely overruled the content.

It starts bad and then it continuous.
I am familiar with blurbs and praise quotes generally putted on the cover to encourage reader to take the book. I have never seen praises being used in the beginning as a form of introduction. It seemed unnatural and extremely hard to finish (it goes for 5 pages). I haven’t really started the book yet and I was already discouraged, and asking myself: “why did the author need such an introduction? Why is she trying to convince the reader her methods work with testimonies and not the method itself?”
The phrases were not always clear to me. I was obliged to re-read some pages to be sure to not misunderstand something.

On top of that I was expecting some scientific facts and explanations to make it more of a manual and less the author’s life story, in vain.

The only positive thing I’ve found about the editing was the summary of the method with a list of actions that was putted in the end. That way if the reader wants to try out the exercises, he/she is not obliged to run through all the pages.

To conclude, it seems like Kalliope’s work was not meant to be turned into a book, but it happened. I did not appreciate this work and it seems only fair to rate it 2/5. I cannot recommend it.
