Although it is written more like a textbook than I had imagined, this is a highly instructive book. It is jam-packed with information and examples of how ADHD can impact each of us as we develop and our brains evolve, especially our children. This book delves into some of the reasons why and describes some social challenges that preteens and children with ADHD may have at school with their classmates. I did find myself becoming a bit bored and having to reread a few of the paragraphs because it is a very school-oriented book. I'm pleased I persisted and read the book to the end since it opened my eyes to new ideas. I wanted to know more about how ADHD impacts the brain, and this book briefly discusses how it might affect each of our children differently. It has helped me have greater patience and compassion with my son. It gives examples of how many families overcame obstacles and made necessary changes to better their relationships with their kids. I adore the concepts and advice the author offers, as well as the various ways we may support our children and even ourselves. The examples in various contexts assist in demonstrating that there is more to it than just copying and pasting; every case is distinct. It gives me hope and gives me the impression that I can apply these concepts and exercises on my own. I now have some stepping stones to use as a guide for my son and me as well in our daily lives. I'm excited to try these exercises with my son. He will work harder and remain focused if he is included in the decision-making process when it comes to new exercises and tactics. I find it a little more difficult to assist him because I have ADHD myself. This book equips me with resources so I can also help myself. I now feel more assured and capable of acting as a result of reading this book. Although this book is written in technical perfection without any misspellings or grammatical errors, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The reason I'm not giving a perfect 5 of 5 is because the book was so textbook that I had a hard time keeping my interest for longer periods of time and I had to take many breaks.
