Why God Allows Evil and Suffering by Sine Nomine provides a thoughtful answer to the problem of the existence of evil and suffering. If there is an all-loving God who is all-powerful, why does He allow evil and suffering to exist? Perhaps most importantly, why does God allow the innocent to suffer? These are questions that man has been trying to answer for millennium. This book offers a different approach and consideration of the problems. Part One considers the omni attributes of God and Part Two considers origins, love and justice, the imitation of Christ, and salvation and separation. This book is a valuable read for anyone who is searching for an answer to the great problem of evil and suffering. Nomine brings a new look at an old problem, combining faith and science while challenging our understanding of the intentions of God. He defines evil as an attack on any attribute of love. Love and faith exist together or not at all. Misplaced faith will lead to evil and suffering. Faith in God will result in man fulfilling his ultimate purpose: loving God and loving his neighbor. Love places the one you love above everything else. This is how God loves us. The idea of timelessness before the fall and in eternity certainly gets one thinking. Death cannot exist where there is no time. This is a well-researched and thought-out treaty of a problem as old as the beginning of time. It is well-written and from a Catholic viewpoint. It is certainly worth considering as one thinks through the co-existence of God, evil, and suffering. I give it a 5 out of 5. It is worth the read.
