Phobia Relief is a misguided meditation on how to overcome your fears. It is a very short book but makes good use of the reader's time. There are no grammatical errors or profanity. The author speaks with authority on several cases of phobia.
The therapist's relationship to the client starts out as encouraging and methodical. The many exercises within are intended for the reader to self-analyze. This book also includes mental tricks to diminish the roots of fear. Several numbered steps attempt to answer what changes need to be made in order for the fear to be managed.
And yet, some of these strategies may not work for everyone. The exercises are repetitive and shallow. It is entertaining but doubtful of resolving deep phobias in one sitting. The author is projecting an abusive power and worsening the patient's mental status with inappropriate suggestions. You should not laugh when you are feeling nervous. You should be able to release the fear and walk away. I feel certain parts of this book are not taking the client seriously. It appears to help the doctor more than the patient by describing elements of rage disorder and schizophrenia as a therapy treatment.
Overall, I give two out of four stars and three out of five stars. Your phobias will only worsen. The exercises are trivial. The title must be in reference to the comic relief ONLY. In real life these people would be getting sued. The author needed to documentate more cases of fear-based phobia and how to apply their technique of reducing fear without causing harm. Since phobias are considered extremely trendy in the media, we are subconsciously entertained and swallowed alive at the same time. People who work around the clock to subdue our fears for five seconds of peace often recommend physical exercise, healthy eating, regular sleep, and a hobby.
