I was surprised by the depth of the storyline in this book. I enjoyed the adventure and excitement the author was able to convey. The author's ability to draw me into the excitement she experienced first hand allowed me to share her emotional rollercoasters. Her descriptions of her family and the dynamic they shared made me feel as if I knew them personally. Her strong connection to her husband and sons was evident in the way she wrote about them. I enjoyed going on the journey with this family from the comfort of my home.
There were a lot of descriptions of physical places and emotional scenes I found to be verbose. The overly descriptive paragraphs were difficult to follow and I found myself re-reading the passages more than once in order to understand what the author was trying to say. She had a tendency to go off on tangents in the middle of a story that had little or nothing to do with the story she was currently telling. It was as if her mind wandered during the writing because something she wrote reminded her of a thought and she put it on the page. These are the reasons I am only giving the story 3 and 4 stars. Overall the book was a good read, but I didn't find it to be a page turner.
The editing in the book was good but not flawless. I found a few grammatical errors, and about 10 spelling errors. There was almost no profanity, but a few curse words found their way into the book at the end. There were passages that could have been edited out because they didn't add anything to the story and interrupted the adventure. This took away from the overall enjoyment of reading this book so it was easier to put down than it should have been.
