This book, written by an experienced financial advisor, introduces Fleischauer’s program “Reconfigurement”. I often feel disapproving of many factors of the realm of finance and economy, due to the unemotional stance they tend to have. This is exactly why this book sparked my interest. Fleischauer seeks to close the literary gap between a combination of left and right-brain orientated financial books through the development of his concept.
As a 22 year old, (mainly) right-brain thinker, I appreciated this combination because it allowed me to expand my perspective in a way that was still familair, and therefore not as intimidating. Highlighting the importance of planning ahead while also maintaining individuality and touching on issues such as mid and late-life-crises is, in my opinion, the best way to balance emotion and logic. I believe nothing can be fixed by fixating on just one or the other. Financial management tends to be dictated by personal preferences, depending on what each of us value most, which is why I would embrace Fleischauer’s “Reconfigurement” concept, as he seeks to find the balance between left-brain and right-brain thinking.
I found this book highly informative as it broke down concepts in an easy-to-digest way, while remaining engaging. The questions asked by Fleischauer are relevant to all generations but particularly mine, as we are just stepping in to the world of finance. I can’t speak on behalf of everyone, but I know for a fact that most of us are feeling very clueless about financial independence and responsibilities and this book provided not only a good introduction into these aspects of life but also comfort and reassurance that we are bound to figure things out. Even the most self-assured young individual could benefit from reading this book.
