The Way of the Goddess by Ananta Ripa Ajmera is a treasure. Billed as “daily rituals to awaken your inner warrior and discover your true self,” this book truly delivers on its promise for any reader seeking a clear path toward a better life.

The book begins with a from-the-heart account of the author’s personal journey. Ajmera bares her soul and draws in the reader by making us realize we are all part of the same human family, and by helping us to understand we all have the capacity to take control of our own spiritual learning and growth. The book continues with a chapter-by-chapter structure outlining the steps we can take to begin this journey using the framework of the 9-day Navratri celebration.

Each chapter focuses on one avatar of the goddess Durga, beginning with Shailputri and guiding us through the incarnation of Siddhidhatri. Each goddess embodies a specific power. The reader is encouraged to reflect on her past, take a close look at her current situation, and read through a series of possible practices to embrace on her personal path towards enlightenment.

Ajmera’s book is realistic yet positive, and it helps us take a close look at our own shortcomings while convincing us that there is no doubt we have the ability to transform our own lives. The book is also professionally edited, as I was hard-pressed to find any typographical or grammatical errors. The words flow, the structure makes sense, and we are left with feelings of empowerment and optimism. I plan to utilize the tenets of this gem for the rest of my life.

While there are mentions of sexual abuse in The Way of the Goddess as well as a chapter that highlights sex in general, this book is appropriate for adult audiences of all genders. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars, wholeheartedly and with joy.
