A Dream For Peace
Much like anyone else, Dr. Ghoulem Berrah had aspirations he aimed to achieve. Within his work titled "A Dream for Peace," he recounts his journey toward realizing these ambitions. The initial chapter of his book offers a brief overview of the colonial era in his native land. Dr. Berrah was born in the province of Constantine in Algeria, during a period when true freedom remained elusive for Algerians. Notably, only settlers were granted permission to enjoy their summer vacations in the central garden. The author asserts that his people seemingly accepted these stringent regulations without protest.

In this same chapter, the author vividly portrays his modest yet resolute and proud upbringing. Additionally, he provides a concise account of his ancestral heritage, touching upon a few of his relatives. When he reached school-going age, he attended a recently established institution designed for indigenous children. He also describes how teachers at these schools were indoctrinated to convince indigenous children that France was their homeland. Discrimination was prevalent during this era not only in Algeria but also in other colonized African nations.

Beyond my enjoyment of the book, it enriched my knowledge significantly. Upon completing it, I came to the realization that memoirs are my preferred genre. In my view, this book was exceptionally well-written, serving as both a source of inspiration and information. The writing style was the highlight for me, characterized by its ease and fluidity. The paragraphs were concise and well-structured, making for an effortless reading experience. I also appreciated the author's meticulous use of descriptive language to convey the unfolding events. There was nothing about this book that I found lacking.

I conclude this review by awarding this book a perfect rating of 4 out of 4 stars. Several factors influenced this rating. The book was both enlightening and entertaining to read. The writing style contributed significantly to my full rating—it was truly exceptional. The book's flawless execution further justified this perfect score. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to those who appreciate non-fiction literature, historical fiction, and motivational narratives. In all aspects, this book excelled and proved to be an outstanding work. It serves as a compelling reminder that peace is not a distant aspiration but a shared responsibility for all of humanity.
