Review of It's None of Your Business
At first glance, the intriguing title 'It's None of Your Business' piqued my interest with its direct boldness. Jordan K. Michaels not only starts her novel with audaciousness but ends with it too, conveying her distinct opinions and statements about worship and beliefs beautifully throughout the book. 'It's None of Your Business' is a simple but clear book that implies that God can be found in every subject or problem faced. This book most certainly encourages strong beliefs in the Lord (specifically Jesus). Jordan not only emboldens faith but also teaches the reader that the key to God is patience and full, heartfelt trust; letting your guard down in life is also a great factor, which is mentioned multiple times throughout the book. This is an excellent guide for widening your horizons, as it aims to restore faith in God and all good happenings.
One of many things that engulfed me in this book was the explanation of how people should feel freer and less worrisome in life, be thankful for what they have in the present, and always see the positive even in a bad situation. The author does not fail to get her point across to the audience with God's ascendencies, including many informative phrases and passages from the Bible. Jordan proves many of her points with utmost honesty and background information about her previous flaws in life. I find Jordan to be very courageous for sympathizing with possible readers and revealing that she also used to make mistakes when viewing beliefs. The author notes that a life lesson is that "when you are with God, challenges look like nothing". Another positive factor that I have to mention is the spectacular glossary of the words used in the book. I found this to be quite shocking, yet nonetheless very enlightening.
Despite this being an eye-opening book, I found some topics mentioned that I did not agree with. I view religion as a wide spectrum; every single person on this planet believes in something. I'm guessing that's just humanity. I, as a person, enjoy exploring different possibilities in life, including religion. From what I have gathered, this book is about restoring faith in the Lord. Yet Michaels, being a believer herself, says that people who do not believe in God will suffer. Instead of religion being made to sound welcoming, this sounded threatening. Everyone has their views and goes through a different path in life. As the author admitted that she had a rocky path before indulging herself in God, it would be expected of her to be more open-minded and understanding. Another issue that arose for me was the opinionated remarks about other people's beliefs and cultural religions.
However, aside from the negatives, this book is a great start for people who want to recover their faith in God and find joy once more in life. This book is mainly aimed at those who want to start a new chapter.
In conclusion, I am rating this book 3 out of 5 stars. I retracted 2 stars from the rating because, as mentioned before, I found it strange that the author was less open-minded than expected. An example of this is some of her points about other cultures and religions. Although 2 stars were retracted from the rating, this book is practically flawless and deserves recognition from those who believe in faith or are restoring faith. Therefore, I have rated this book 3 out of 5 stars.
