Review of When Business Is Love
When Business Is Love by Jan Ryde is a book themed by love, joy, satisfaction, peace, success, and their recurring counterparts in an everyday life, among others.
What I'd call its selling point and I really appreciate is, rather than a convoluted or an unnecessarily complex narrative, the key points mentioned in this book which are meant to evoke awareness in readers are well-simplified and interlaced with very convincing and helpful analogies. Not only did I see the bright side of certain virtues and self-improvement actions, I realized the very disadvantageous downsides of remaining in the dark to said actions and some related thought processes.
I was surprised to find out that most of what Jan introduced in this book aren't unconventional, but rather, individual experiences in everyday lives that help bolster the veracity of his words. Not to mention that, many times, I found seemingly normal statements outrageously life-changing with a little help in changing my perspectives.
In When Business Is Love, Jan often pointed out his company's unusual work ethic that's characterized by prioritizing love. When I turned the first few pages of this book, I undeniably thought it was phony and penned by a naïve author who refused to part with his rose-colored glasses. But this book isn't shallow, by any means. There are some points in this book that might or might not be related to things I've read in other books, but like I implied earlier, the analogies and expositions in this book are elaborate and quite easy to understand.
I confess that I'm writing this review nigh a fortnight after reading this book, and it's been of great help to my mental state and enjoying my days. Yet, I wouldn't extol this book as perfect. It will no doubt change the lives or save the lives of many who read it. I daresay the publication of this book will be a huge step to changing the world greatly if it becomes highly popular. The precepts of virtues such as love and joy will resonate with the hearts of many who read this book, and under its influence, help others out in making the world a better place. But with my feet on the ground, I don't suppose every last person will find every content of this book agreeable. Not even I did, which is justification enough. Why? No matter how many times I tell myself to keep an open mind, a few aspects of this book are such that some personal preconceptions of mine refuse to justify accepting them. After all, this book wasn't penned with not changing its readers' lifestyles in mind. I recognized some of the said aspects as axioms and fewer others as truths, yet I know this stubbornness couldn't exist in myself alone. I could point fingers and say it's my fault, or the narrative fell short at some points, but the truth of this matter is obscure to me, really. In reality, though, it's no skin off my back, as there were many an aspect more I concurred with and would rather be preoccupied with. In my opinion, possibly not all, but surely some aspects of this book will prove beneficial to any reader.
Quite rare though it seems, this book was flawlessly edited without the presence of a single typo. This speaks to the effort put into creating this book, and for that, I give my respect and thanks. I'd rate it a four out of five rather than give it full points because of the dissatisfaction I expressed above. Though, I recommend this book to any and all people. In fact, I'd urge anyone who reads this review to attempt reading When Business Is Love.
