Inner Trek by Mohan Ranga Rao is a beautifully crafted travelogue. If you are a spiritual believer considering a visit to Mount Kailash, you ought to read this non-fiction memoir.

Mohan is a businessman who is threatened by a land mafia to sell off his land at a lower price than its market value. On sharing this news with his wife, Mamatha suggests taking a vow in front of Lord Shiva to visit Mount Kailash and Manasarovar to get rid of all problems. Initially, Mohan is reluctant and tries to ignore her. Finally, after multiple attempts, Mamatha is successful in booking their trip.

This book is about the experiences of the author and his wife during their entire journey. They face a lot of struggles during their expedition, but finally reach the destination and experience an immense amount of inner happiness and bliss. Mohan takes a holy dip in the cold water of Manasarovar and realizes the importance of letting go of things in our lives.

I am surely motivated to go and experience the spiritual feeling of reaching Mount Kailash. I also learned that this journey is quite challenging and requires good physical and mental health. The beauty of Kailash is very well captured through photographs and shown in the book, which intrigues the readers to visit the place. It almost feels like being a part of the group and trekking with them. There is a glossary given at the end of the book, which makes it easy for the readers to understand.

I would rate the book 5 out of 5 stars, as it is an excellent book. There were no errors that I could find, so I believe it was professionally edited. There was nothing that I disliked about the book, so I would not deduct any stars. The skillful narration keeps you engaged throughout the book. The humor used in the book makes it more interesting.

I would recommend the book to spiritual readers interested in taking a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash. The honest writing style of the author will surely excite you.
