Surviving the Business of Healthcare is an extensive guide to the United States' healthcare system. Barbara Galutia Regis, PA-C, a fourth-generation family practise practitioner and cancer patient, wrote the book to help readers navigate the complex and frequently confusing healthcare system. The book gives a general overview of the healthcare system, including the many types of providers, insurance programmes, and payment methods. The book explains how to make informed healthcare decisions, such as selecting a provider, understanding your insurance plan, and advocating for yourself. The book offers advice to anyone dealing with a serious disease, including how to deal with mental and physical problems.

I enjoyed how well-written and simple the book was. The author uses simple language and avoids grammatical errors so that even those unfamiliar with the healthcare system can comprehend the content. The book is exceptionally well edited. Regis illustrates the obstacles of the healthcare system and how to overcome them through her personal experiences as a healthcare worker and patient. This book contains useful information. She also provides useful resources, such as websites and examples, for further research.

The author's photographs are located at the back of the book. This is a minor flaw that I discovered; however, the photographs could have been more useful if they were positioned between chapters. This would have made it easier for readers to relate to the author and her experiences.

I appreciated how she also provided the reader with a glimpse into her family history and how her father was her main inspiration in life. The author's personal stories give the book a human touch and make the content more relevant. Her experiences as a healthcare professional and patient offer the author a unique perspective on the healthcare system, and her stories help explain the obstacles and rewards of navigating the system. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars since the great features outweigh the negative ones. I recommend this book to people new to the healthcare system, people who want to take charge of their health, and healthcare professionals.
