A Dream for Peace is a memoir written by the famous Algerian freedom fighter and preacher of peace, Ghoulem Berrah, who narrates his life story from childhood in Aïn Beïda to his old age after achieving great heights in life. The author worked as an Ivorian ambassador during the tenure of President Houphouèt.

The author begins the book by narrating his childhood experiences in the small town of Aïn Beïda in Algeria. It was during French colonial rule, and his father, Hamedi, was always seen with his rifle. Berrah attended formal education at the College de Batna, then proceeded to the University of Bordeaux on a scholarship to study medicine because of his intelligence and diligence. Berrah had a couple of issues at the university that made him move to America, where he studied microbiology. Berrah has always been a freedom fighter and was against colonialism, racism, and discrimination. Get a copy of the book to learn about this interesting personality.

The story of this amazing man is really inspiring and educational because I learned a lot about Algeria's history and development. The role Ghoulem Berrah played in promoting national peace is something I really admire. The writing style of the author and the narrative technique were top-notch. I love the author's humble beginnings and the way he treated the poor and masses when he attained top positions as an ambassador and special adviser. I also like the author's love for humanity, as he rendered help to people of different religions. I admire the author's bravery in pursuing his life goals since he faced numerous challenges, including discrimination and oppression, but that wasn’t enough to bring him down because he was determined to achieve greatness in life.

I was so glad I came across the book, and I didn’t dislike anything about it. The book was quite lengthy, but its content was superb, so I didn’t get bored reading it. I felt different emotions when reading about racism and discrimination because they are still prevalent in societies around the globe. Berrah’s lifestyle is worthy of emulation, and I’ll love to read books about other heroes who sacrificed a lot for their country.

I’m rating this book five out of five stars because of its positive aspects. There were no errors in the book because it was exceptionally well edited. I recommend the book to fans of memoir and to those who want to make positive impacts in their country because they would learn a lot from Berrah's experience.
