Thriving in the Storm just helped me get closer to my goal of starting to read books! I have hated to read books unless I absolutely had to do so ever since my childhood days. As I grew up, I started to have an interest in self-help and personal development books to help me become more self-aware and grow as a person. Although I have not read that many self-development books, I often read quotes from those kinds of books. I rated this book 5 out of 5 because I truly enjoyed what Bill Murphy mentioned in the book, and most of the stuff truly resonated with me, especially what I have been going through in my life recently. It helped me see things from a different perspective (especially since I have kept my struggles private and was only seeing a situation from my wounded perspective). There were numerous things I loved from the book, but the main thing I learned from this book was that there will always be another storm coming up in our lives, and it is important to stay open-minded and learn to reframe our thoughts. If I were to pick my favorite lesson from this, it is the fact that it really matters what you decide to do with your life as you are in the middle of the storm (despite how challenging it may be). As a quote lover, I also enjoyed reading the quotes at the beginning of each chapter because I could really soak into them as I was reading the following chapter, which helped me retain the main point of each chapter. Being a self-help book, I also found it useful to have mini end-of-chapter exercises for the readers to work on. They helped me become introspective and think about things about myself I had never thought about before. Like Bill mentioned, with practice and determination, we can thrive in the storm and survive whatever life throws at us. I found this book really inspiring, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a self-development book.
