I read a book with a fine narrative of personal experience and the lessons he has learned from them, titled, “Thriving in the Storm: Nine Principles to help you overcome any Adversity” by Bill Murphy. It is helpful for the general public and particularly for those who are going through traumatic life experiences and want to find ways to overcome traumatic situations successfully.
The significance of the book lies in the way the author talks about his day-to-day life experiences as a child and how these experiences have influenced his life as an adult. He finds that his anger goes back to his abusive childhood. By narrating his own experiences, he beautifully and succinctly derives practical steps for overcoming his negative experiences and discusses how he turned them into positive outcomes.
The author emphasizes the significance of finding a purpose and of using one’s values as a guide for achieving one’s goals. He talks about an exercise that would help one focus in order to know oneself better.
Furthermore, Murphy in this book put goal setting as an important step to accomplishing the goal. He has some practical advice for those struggling. He includes techniques like manifestation, which can help one turn one’s desires into reality. He also focuses on the importance of identifying and breaking the pattern that one holds back to having a good future life. He emphasizes the importance of the power of positivity which can help one to change one’s life.
The book gives practical advice and suggests some practical advice and exercises to thrive in the storm. One thing that could have made the book better is if the author explains some of the terms that he uses. Second, the author moves back and forth in narrating his life experiences and some of them are repetitive. I rate this book 4 out of 5.
