Surviving the Business of Healthcare is an intriguing book about healthcare. Everyone wants to know the best way to use technology and get the most out of it. That is precisely what the readership of this book is meant to learn. In her writings, Barbara Galutia Regis, M.S., PA-C, appears to instruct readers on how to manage the many parts of healthcare, including the financial side.

Barbara was a professional in the healthcare system, a teacher, and an entrepreneur. There is, thus, no better author for this work. She wrote about her hometown and the part her family played in it. Her father's talents and knowledge demonstrate that she was raised well and learned well. One of the two doctors in the little town was her father. He, therefore, had his work cut out for him. He also appeared to be a cornerstone of the community at the time. Barbara claimed to like providing primary care. She also offered advice on how readers should pick a primary care physician.

This book has a wealth of intriguing and instructive material. It would only be read if the reader learned something new. Another one concerns the decreasing number of physician assistants (PAs). I was among those who believed that all physicians were extremely wealthy. But as I read this book, I had a revelation. Despite having decent salaries, some doctors have significant student loan debt. They also devote a considerable amount of time to learning. I also saw that healthcare offers a variety of alternatives outside of just working as a doctor.

Even though I enjoyed the photographs in the book, I wouldn't say I liked where they were placed. It would have provided additional context if it had been established between the paragraphs in the book. It was the one aspect of the book that I didn't enjoy. The chapters' information was concise and to the point. The writer used straightforward language that everybody could comprehend. The author provided basic details. An illustration was given of what to remember to do if a family member or friend is about to be admitted to the hospital.

I applaud the author for producing a work of this caliber. I liked that she based the topic on personal experience. It would make the reader feel more connected to the author. I give this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because the book contained important information that was well worth reading. The book was expertly edited and had no errors. I suggest this book to anybody interested in a healthcare career, as well as to healthcare professionals and family members of sick patients.
