Memoirs of a Management Consultant: Brief history of my life, professional and other, told by myself by Franco Guazzoni is a non-fiction book that offers a glimpse into the life of a management consultant. The author takes us through his journey as a management consultant in global companies, MIDA, Cegos, and Ernst & Young Consultants. Franco and his friends founded MIDA after leaving Cegos. He gives detail on how MIDA acquired some partners and clients. He later left MIDA for an American company Ernst & Young Consultants, where he brought in his skills that enabled the company to stay ahead of its competitors. Franco remained committed to producing high-quality work for his clients throughout his career. Franco also takes us through his private life. He takes us through his childhood, school life, love for football, family life, trips to different parts of the world, and his regrets.

I profoundly enjoyed reading this book. Throughout the book, Franco shares insight into the challenges and rewards of his profession and the importance of effective communication and collaboration with clients. He also shares his experience working with various clients and navigating the complicated business world. His love and respect for his clients enabled him to maintain long-term friendships with some of them. I really enjoyed the story of the author and the purchasing manager. The purchasing manager offered Franco unfavorable conditions before finalizing the contract, and he feared he would receive the same treatment. Since childhood, Franco carried himself as someone who knew what he wanted and worked hard to achieve his dreams. I express my gratitude to the author for adding photos after the two parts of the book. I was able to see the magazine he produced when he was a child and so more. My favorite quote from the book is, “When you sleep, other people are working.”

I didn’t find anything to dislike about this book. I think the author did outstanding work in writing this book, and I applaud him for that. The author’s story is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and a passion for helping others succeed.

I found one spelling error in the book. However, I don’t think that is enough to deduct a point. The book was well-written, and my reading experience was remarkable. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This book is a valuable resource for anyone interested in the managing consultant field. I recommend this book to anyone interested in joining the field or who wants to understand the industry better.
