i]Niching Up[/i] by Chris Dreyer is a practical account of Mr. Dreyer's efforts in successfully establishing his agency, which specializes in Search Engine Optimization. Mr. Dreyer shares his entry into online business media with his first niche or his particular market segment, and how he learned that focused content was the way to go. Mr. Dreyer achieved success when he narrowed his market and specialized in his business.
The chapters in the book cover the characteristics needed to find, build up and maintain profitably an area of interest someone desires to make into a business. The author gives examples from his own experience and other sources to make his ideas clear to the reader, and I found his writing technique easy to follow and understand. For instance, he was active on online media such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. He followed his target market segment and shared his appreciation of their content. Mr. Dreyer attended conferences and took note of the associations his target market joined. This activity brought him into their circle and helped him learn their interests and goals. With this knowledge, a business can hone its services and develop its product.
Niching Up is a business-class book and not for entertainment reading. I related to some of the chapters in my interests as a crafter. The editing is professional, and I noticed no typos or errors.
Chapter 2 and Chapter 6 have profanity. It is nothing an adult would not have heard before, but superfluous nevertheless.
I rated this book 3 out of 4 and 4 out of 5. I recommend it to a business student, someone just beginning their career, and anyone establishing their own business. I deducted one point from my rating because although the book is a fast read with simple sentences, it did get repetitive in the later chapters.
