28 Disastrous Dates: A (Mostly True) Humorous Memoir by Poppy Mortimer is an absolute gem of a book that expands over twenty-eight chapters. This memoir is a delightful blend of honesty, hilarity, and a helping hand for fellow girls navigating the treacherous world of dating. This book relays the author's experiences in the dating world. The author, Poppy, takes us on a wild ride through 28 dates that were an unforgettable mess in the weirdest possible way. It has chapters where the author has been used as a shield in haunted houses to see a monstrosity of a man’s genitals; each date somehow manages to surpass the previous one in sheer disaster, offering readers a progressively funnier and more outrageous experience. She continuously gave dating multiple chances, despite the terrible dates spanning over twenty years. Yet her determination and unwavering spirit never wavered. Her journey becomes more than just a collection of disastrous dates; it becomes a testament to the human spirit, the pursuit of happiness, and the importance of embracing life's unpredictable twists and turns. Mortimer's writing style is engaging and effortless, effortlessly transporting readers into each scene and making us feel like active participants in her adventures.

I absolutely loved reading this book. Poppy Mortimer's resilience is truly admirable. The author's vibrant personality shines throughout the book. Despite encountering her first disastrous date at the age of 20, she remains lively, dynamic, attractive, and incredibly talented. This book is a treasure trove of entertainment and amusement. The author recounts each event with vivid detail and impeccable timing. Poppy Mortimer's witty remarks and exceptional sense of humour add an extra layer of vibrancy to the narration, making the rollercoaster of her dating misadventures all the more colourful. It's a testament to her strength of character and ability to find humour even in the most challenging situations. Through it all, she remains relatable, inspiring, and incredibly funny.

There is nothing I disliked about this book. Poppy Mortimer's hilarious memoir will leave you entertained, uplifted, and grateful that your own dating experiences aren't as catastrophic. Though this book would be appreciated more by fans of rom-com movies,

I would rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is an absolute must-read for anyone in need of a good laugh and a relatable dating escapade. However, this book might not be appropriate for people who don’t like dramatic renditions of real-life events.
