A piece of non-fiction as well as a historical memoir of his life experiences, A Dream for Peace by Dr. Ghoulem Berrah is a really unique book. It's the story of his life and his contribution to Algeria's Independence. A revolutionist who fought to win independence for his country.
Dr. Ghoulem Berrah was just an Algerian-born kid, and he starts off his story from his childhood. He eventually grows into a political diplomat with an undying hunger for equality, freedom, and peace. He was involved in a number of diplomatic missions, some classified presidential assignments, and many more, all in his bid to find peaceful solutions to political conflicts. The book also gives us a glimpse into Dr. Ghoulem's love life. As you read, you'll find out if he was able to succeed in his endeavors as a diplomat brokering peace as well as resolve the dilemma of his personal love life.
I like how detailed this book is. The author, while narrating his story, gives us the much-needed details we need to help us thoroughly understand his point of view as I read. Details of people, their names, events, and locations made me enjoy this book. I liked that the book was written chronologically, and it helped me flow with the book. I also liked that illustrations were used. The errors I found were minimal, so I think the book was professionally edited. For these aforementioned reasons, I'll rate this book five out of five stars.
I disliked the length of the book. It was really long, and I hoped it could have been broken into parts to avoid readers getting tired. However, it wasn't enough reason for me to deduct a star from my rating.
I recommend this book to history lovers as well as all people who have a love for and hunger for peace in our society, which is always filled with conflicts.
